Abigail Clarkin
Abigail Clarkin is a contributing writer at Serious Eats. She was raised in a Rhode Island town in the woods, and now lives and works in Providence. Her obsession with all things food likely stemmed from trying coveted free samples during shopping trips and making banana bread with her mom while growing up. (Or perhaps that time she discovered she liked bell peppers at a family party and proceeded to demolish the crudité arrangement single-handedly.) Since then, she’s found all sorts of ways to write about cooking, baking, and dining.
Highlights
- Abigail joined the team at Book Riot in 2018 and has since then crafted interactive quizzes and written articles about all things bookish (including food featured in young adult fiction).
- She currently works in marketing for a real estate developer in Providence, RI, where she regularly photographs food, plans events, writes articles, and creates press assets for new businesses.
- In her free time, Abigail enjoys writing saucy poems, training for marathons, and checking out new cocktail bars with friends.
Experience
Following graduation in 2018, Abigail worked in communications at Louttit Library in Rhode Island and joined Book Riot as a contributing writer. Soon after, in 2019, she also joined the marketing team at The Prout School. From starting the library’s Instagram account, to interviewing professional runners on their reading habits, to writing press releases about school plays, she has always found something interesting to share with the world. In 2021, she took a full-time position with Cornish Associates as the InDowncity community affairs and social media manager and dove headfirst into promoting and supporting small businesses in downtown Providence.
Favorite Purchase
As an avid tea drinker, Abigail can often be found putting her favorite kitchen item, the Aeorlatte Milk Frother, to good use while making a London fog or matcha latte. The frother is easy to use while muddling through any early morning drinks since it's cordless and lightweight.
Education
In 2018, Abigail graduated summa cum laude from the University of Rhode Island with a B.A. in English and Writing and Rhetoric.
