It’s safe to say we’re in a long-term, committed relationship with the Breville Smart Oven Pro. Heck, it’s been our favorite model in our seven years of testing toaster ovens. It can toast, roast, bake, broil, and, yes, it can even slow cook—more than justifying its hefty price tag for those who like a multitasker (or just want consistently golden toast every time). And now that it’s 20% off at Amazon, it’s definitely worth scooping up.
Breville Smart Oven Pro
Why It Won Our Review
The Breville Smart Oven Pro was the best performer (again!) in our review of 19 toaster ovens. It had power and versatility, as well as spectacularly even heat distribution. Whether we were heating up toast, a pot pie, or frozen pizza, there was a nary a cold spot.
At nearly 20 inches wide and 16 inches deep, this is no small countertop oven. However, its size means it has a generous capacity (big enough to fit a whole roast) and can double as a backup oven. I personally have one at home, and when my oven conked out, I used my Breville toaster oven exclusively for a week for all my baking, roasting, and toasting needs. “Honestly, I rarely use my full-size oven anymore,” says senior commerce editor Riddley Gemperlein-Schirm. “As a two-person household, the Breville’s the move as long as the baking dish fits.” For a limited time, it’s on sale at Amazon so grab one for $240 while you can.

The toaster oven comes with one oven rack, a 12- x 12-inch enamel baking pan, a 12- x 12-inch enamel broiling rack, a 13-inch non-stick pizza pan, and a removable crumb tray.
No, Breville recommends hand-washing these accessories and making sure they’re completely dry before placing them back into the oven.
This model functions as a miniature convection oven with heating elements at the top and bottom and a fan located towards the back that circulates hot air.
We spoke to a Breville expert to get the best practices for cleaning a toaster oven. The oven comes with a removable crumb tray that easily slides out for cleaning. The inside walls are also non-stick for ease of cleaning and Breville recommends wiping them down with a soft, damp sponge with the oven unplugged. Only non-abrasive liquid cleanser should be used and the cleaner should be applied to the sponge, not the walls of the oven. Avoid touching the quartz heating elements, but if they need to be cleaned, Breville recommends using a damp sponge or cloth without any cleaning agents. Remember to always let the oven dry completely before plugging it back in and using it!
