The Averna Buena balances a few drops of Godiva chocolate liqueur with the amaro Averna and a hit of reposado tequila. It's a spin on bartender Thomas Waugh's Hierba Buena, which was a finalist in the 2008 Averna cocktail competition.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 ounce Averna
  • 1 1/4 ounce reposado tequila, such as Don Julio
  • 1/2 ounce Godiva chocolate liqueur
  • 2 drops orange bitters
  • ice
  • small dark chocolate bar

Directions

  1. Measure Averna, tequila, and chocolate liqueur into a mixing glass. Add bitters. Fill glass with ice and shake well for ten seconds. Strain into a cocktail glass. Grate chocolate over drink and serve.
