A little over 10 years ago, air fryers arrived on the cooking scene and swiftly became the appliance everyone just had to have. But this is one trend that’s stuck around—and for good reason. While we carry a healthy dose of skepticism here at Serious Eats for all things “too good to be true,” we actually quite like air fryers. Their compact size, paired with powerful convection fans, means they crisp up foods better than a standard oven. Not to mention they’re easy to clean and require little to no preheating so you can get dinner on the table—fast. 

But even if air fryers are a good concept in theory, we wanted to find great ones worth the countertop (and storage) space. We reviewed 15 air fryers and found seven models that are worth their weight in crispy, crunchy gold. And now that Cyber Monday is here, a few of our favorite models (as well as some of our favorite air fryer toaster ovens, which are great in their own right!) are on sale. So, if you’ve held out 10 years and are finally giving in, now’s a great time to buy an air fryer.
