Editor's Picks

Breville's espresso machines are some of most streamlined models out there; it's the reason so many have taken top honors in our reviews. They're easy to use. They make it a cinch to pull great shots. They're relatively affordable compared to many, many other espresso machines on the market. What's not to like? And, right now, some of our favorite Breville espresso machines are on sale — up to 25% off — so it's time to get brewing.

The Best Breville Espresso Machines

Breville Bambino Plus

The Breville Bambino Plus espresso machine

Serious Eats / Ashley Rodriguez

Why we love it: The Bambino Plus delivers precision temperature control and automatic milk frothing, and it heats up in just three seconds (!!). While we were amazed at the number of features it offered in such a small machine, when we tested it, we were even more impressed with the quality of the espresso shots it pulled. It’s a great machine for beginners learning the ropes, but we also think it’s a stellar option for anyone who wants to make good espresso at home (and who doesn’t want to break the bank). Just don’t forget to grab an espresso grinder, too.

Breville Barista Express

Why we love it: The Barista Express's built-in grinder makes home espresso even easier. While we haven't officially tested it yet, it's a pared-down version of the Barista Pro and has the same precision temperature control as the other Breville machines. On sale it costs less than the Bambino Plus paired with our favorite espresso grinder, making it a great pick for the budget-conscious.

the Breville Barista Pro espresso machine

Serious Eats / Ashley Rodriguez

Why we love it: If you like the idea of the Barista Express but want more control, the Barista Pro comes with a customizable interface that lets you program the amount of coffee it dispenses. We really appreciated the ability to fine-tune your shots with its timed coffee dosing feature and an easy-to-read display. It’s a great upgrade to the Barista Express and, while on sale, is only a few dollars extra. It also features the same fast-heating boiler that the Bambino Plus does.

Breville Barista Express Impress

Serious Eats / Jesse Raub

Why we love it: We really loved the assisted tamping lever and automatic coffee portioning of the Barista Express Impress for one big reason: it automates the trickiest parts of pulling a shot. Though it’s a little pricier, it’s a great option for anyone brand new to espresso who wants tasty coffee at home without having to learn new techniques.

FAQs

Which Breville espresso machine should I get?

We evaluated the Breville espresso machine lineup to help you decide which model is right for you.

Is it worth getting a Breville espresso machine?

We really like Breville espresso machines for a few reasons: they’re easy to use, they make great coffee, and they’re fairly affordable. While they’re mostly made from plastic and aren’t as sturdy as some of the heavy-duty home machines on the market, they’re well-built and come with a 2-year warranty. We think they’re an excellent option for beginners or people with some espresso experience who just want an easy-to-use espresso machine.
