An Enameled Cast Iron Frying Pan That Will Last a Lifetime: Le Creuset Classic Enameled Cast Iron Skillet Fry Pan, 9"
Associate commerce editor Grace Kelly’s parents have been using their Le Creuset enameled cast iron skillet since before she was born (she’s 30, for perspective) and it’s STILL nonstick as ever, with no chips or scratches to speak of. This is a testament to the craftsmanship and quality of Le Creuset products, and now that the 9-inch version is $76 off, you too can make this a family heirloom—for a steal.
A Dutch Oven That Will Last You A Lifetime: Le Creuset Signature Enameled Cast Iron Round Oven in Teal
A good Dutch oven will not only sear and braise with ease, but it also will last a lifetime. The Le Creuset Dutch oven, our longtime winner, has stood the test of time, as well as the many stews, sears, and braises in Serious Eats editors’ kitchens. The bright and cheery teal color in the 7 1/4-size is currently $91 off, making it a great time to get your hands on this versatile kitchen classic.
A Cookware Set Worth Its Weight in Steel: All-Clad D3 Tri-Ply Stainless-Steel 10-Piece Cookware Set
When it comes to cookware and knives, we’re more of the “build-your-own-collection” sort. That said, this set of stainless steel cookware from All-Clad comes with two of our favorite pieces—the stainless steel skillet and saucepan. Not to mention the overall set was quite responsive and easy to use in our review of cookware sets, and now that it’s $430 off, it’s an even better one-and-done purchase.
A Powerful, Versatile Blender: Vitamix Ascent A3500
While the Vitamix 5200 will always have our hearts, the Ascent A3500 is a powerful blender that’s worth looking into, especially since it’s on sale. In our tests, it ripped through frozen and fibrous smoothie ingredients (like kale), it sports a variety of pre-sets, and it also has an easy-to-use dial interface.
A Fancy Pellet Ice Maker: GE Profile™ Opal™ 2.0 Nugget Ice Maker
In some circles, “the good ice” (a.k.a pellet ice) is as coveted as a Hermés Birkin bag. The great news? It’s more accessible, especially now that our favorite countertop ice maker is on sale. We liked the removable water tank, which made filling and cleaning easy, as well as the WiFi connectivity—we could set and forget the machine and come home to a bucket-load of crunchy ice.
A Truly Impressive Countertop Composter: FoodCycler by Vitamix Eco 5 Food Composter
Maybe you’re like us and the 5-gallon bucket that’s served as your compost bin has become a fruit fly breeding ground—and it’s time for a real composting rig. While the Vitamix FoodCycler is an admittedly pricey (and rather large) countertop option, it turns food scraps into fertilizer in eight hours—max! In our review, we were quite impressed with how well it ground everything down into a dirt-like pulp (just look at the photos for proof).
Another Powerful, No-Frills Blender: Vitamix E310 Explorian Blender
This is a simple, no-frills blender that excels at blending silky sauces and smoothies, making it a great gift or starter blender (for your niece who’s moving into her first apartment, or some such). It’s also on the lower end of the Vitamix price point spectrum, and now that it’s $50 off, it’s an even better deal.
One of Our Favorite Saucepans: All-Clad D3 Tri-Ply Stainless-Steel Saucepan
Caramel, mashed potatoes, rice, browned butter, custard…saucepans are actually quite versatile for being on the smaller side of the cookware spectrum. And if you’re looking for a mighty, mighty saucepan, look no further than the All-Clad D3 Tri-Ply—it’s responsive, ergonomic, and easy to clean. One of the only reasons it wasn’t our top pick in our review was the price tag—but now it’s $80 off, making it a genuine good deal.
A Classic Stovetop Tea Kettle: Le Creuset Classic Whistling Tea Kettle
Putting the kettle on might fulfill your windswept British period-drama heroine fantasies (at least, it does for us, ahem) or it might just be your go-to way to brew up some hot water for a cup of tea. The Le Creuset Classic Whistling Tea Kettle keeps all the rituals of brewing hot water (filling the pot, hearing it whistle, using a towel to hold the kettle as you pour water gently into a cup...) and also looks stunning doing it. Not to mention it was the fastest stovetop kettle we tested, and it’s also induction compatible.
A Sharp Pair of Kitchen Shears: Shun Classic Kitchen Shears
A good pair of kitchen shears can change the way you cook—really! Not only are they handy for cutting up herbs (they make quick work of snipping parsley from stems) and spatchcocking chicken, but they’re also great for cutting rounds of parchment paper and—dare we say it—opening up boxes (as gear testers, we open A LOT of boxes). Our winning set from Shun was sharp and sported a bone-notch that made breaking down poultry easy, and the handles were grippy and didn’t dig into our palms. Plus, they pulled apart easily for cleaning.
