A riff on a Salty Dog, this cocktail is excellent with a 100% agave blanco tequila—or try a joven mezcal.

Bitter Salty Perro Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 cups freshly squeezed pink grapefruit juice from about 4 grapefruits

  • 1 cup blanco tequila or joven mezcal

  • 2 cups tonic water, chilled

  • Kosher salt

  • Angostura bitters

Directions

  1. In a large pitcher, combine grapefruit juice and tequila or mezcal. Add tonic and fill pitcher with ice. Stir gently to combine.

  2. Rim 4 glasses with kosher salt. Divide cocktail between glasses, adding 2 dashes of bitters to each glass. Serve immediately.
