Experience

Catherine Jessee is a Test Kitchen Assistant in the Dotdash Meredith Food Studios. Catherine Jessee has tested and developed recipes for brands including Allrecipes, EatingWell, Food & Wine, Real Simple, Serious Eats, Simply Recipes, The Spruce Eats, and Southern Living.

While working as a line cook at Tarasque Cucina in Oxford, Mississipi, she received her M.A. in Southern Studies and served as a Nathalie Dupree Graduate Fellow with the Southern Foodways Alliance. Her expertise focuses on food, labor, and culture. Her master's thesis "The Wild Asleep: A Cultural and Environmental History of Ramps," included a collection of oral histories and interviews with foragers, cooks and avid eaters of wild onions across Appalachia and beyond.

Prior to working in food, Catherine lived in Corrientes, Argentina where she cooked and ate her way through regional dishes inspired by a confluence of Italian, Spanish, Paraguayan, and Guarani cuisine. Her go-to dish to bring to a potluck is Ritz crackers and pimiento cheese (her mom's recipe, always!).
