  • Emily is the senior food editor at Better Homes & Garden based in Portland, Oregon. She was the food and drinks editor for Statesman Journal and editor-in-chief of Spoonful Magazine.  
  • She is a seasoned food writer, recipe developer, and food media content creator who has contributed regularly to Serious Eats, Wine & Spirits, The Kitchn, Philadelphia Magazine, Eater Philly, and Edible Philly. Her writing has also appeared in USA Today, Rachael Ray Everyday, and Huffington Post Taste, among others.
  • Emily received a Legacy Award in 2011 from the women's culinary organization Les Dames D'Escoffier International for her food journalism.  


Experience

Emily Teel is passionate about food and committed to the idea that everyone deserves access to meals that are both nourishing and satisfying. She began her food career working for nonprofit organizations supporting agricultural and community food programs in Pennsylvania and freelance writing for the independent quarterly food publication Spoonful Magazine, eventually becoming its editor-in-chief. 

A prolific freelance writer and recipe developer, Emily has contributed regularly to Serious Eats, Wine & Spirits, The Kitchn, Philadelphia Magazine, Eater Philly, and Edible Philly.  Her work has also appeared in USA Today, Rachael Ray Everyday, and Huffington Post Taste, among others.  She was the food and drinks editor for Statesman Journal in Oregon before taking on the senior food editor position at Better Homes & Garden. In 2011 Emily received a Legacy Award from Les Dames D'Escoffier International, supported by The Julia Child Foundation, for her food journalism.
