As someone who’s unintentionally broken three French presses (literally smashed them—DON’T ASK!), the fact that I’ve owned and loved one particular French press for years says a lot. And that French press also happens to be our favorite French press. As in, we tested 18 of them and named it the best-of-the-best. Huzzah!
What’s the French press, you ask? It’s the Fellow Clara! Let’s get a little grindular (see what I did there) about why it’s so great.
For starters, it has a double-walled, stainless steel body that keeps coffee hot and, incidentally, is nearly impossible to break. Its black matte finish is eye-catching and its weighted handle makes for seamless pouring. Its lid can pour from any direction, too, so there’s no having to line it up with the spout specifically or risk coffee dribbling everywhere. The French press even comes with a wooden spoon for agitating the grounds mid-brew. And the coating inside? It’s nonstick! Which makes for exceptionally easy cleaning.
The Fellow’s only downside is its price: at $100, it’s undeniably spendy. However, the price of three broken French presses definitely exceeds that, so perhaps you, too, will find it well worth it.
