Expertise: Vietnamese cooking, recipe development, food history

Giao is a Vietnamese-born writer living in Toronto with a particular interest in the intersection between food, culture, and identity. She is also an avid home cook whose lifelong mission is to share her knowledge about Vietnamese cuisine and connect with other cultures through food. When Giao is not cooking or writing, she’s playing with her cat and giggling at cat videos on YouTube.

Education

Giao received her degree in Business Management from Singapore Management University and a post-graduate certificate in Food Media from Centennial College, Canada. In her previous life, she crunched numbers and waxed poetic about financial markets in Singapore. Her blog, My Joyous Lab, documents her successes and mishaps recreating Vietnamese dishes while living abroad. She’s written for Food52, CBC Life, and Bon Appetit and Culture, a magazine serving the Vietnamese diaspora in Canada.
