Experience

Gina DePalma was a New York-based pastry chef, author, and frequent contributor to Serious Eats. After completing culinary school with Peter Kump and getting her start at some of the city's best restaurants, she became pastry chef at Babbo when it opened in 1998; she stayed on at the renowned restaurant for close to 15 years. In 2007, she published Dolce Italiano: Desserts from the Babbo Kitchen, and went on to win a James Beard Award for Outstanding Pastry Chef in 2009.

In addition to food, Gina's great loves were her friends, family, art, music, and travel, the latter of which took her frequently to Italy.

In 2015, after a seven year battle with ovarian cancer, Gina DePalma passed away at the age of 49. She is greatly missed.
