Experience

James Oseland wrote his first cookbook, Cradle of Flavor, in 2006. The New York Times named it one of the best cookbooks of the year. He is currently the editor of World Food Books, a series of cookbooks by Ten Speed Press. He has published cookbooks for this series on Mexico City and Paris so far.

He was the editor-in-chief for Rodale's Organic Life and Saveur magazine. At Saveur, he won numerous James Beard awards, as well as two for his own writing. His writing appears in Gourmet, Vogue, Food & Wine, and the Wall Street Journal, where he writes a regular column called "Cook's Playbook."

He was a judge on all five seasons of Top Chef Masters, and has appeared on the Today Show and Iron Chef America. He has taught cooking at the Institute for Culinary Education, the New School, and New York City's Natural Gourmet.
