Jenna Lanoue
Title: Contributor
Location: Beverly, MA
Education: St. Mary's College of Maryland
Expertise: Cooking, Kitchen Equipment

Jenna Lanoue is a contributing writer at Serious Eats. She was born and raised in Maryland along the Chesapeake Bay, but has lived and worked on the North Shore of Boston since 2008. Her enthusiasm for food and the equipment that helps prepare it was nurtured early on by parents who lavishly decorated themed birthday cakes (before it was cool) and were sometimes a little too creative with dinner leftovers. These days, she can often be found hunting down the best local bakery, researching various kitchen utensils, baking for her family, or testing recipes in her commercial soft serve machine.

Experience

Jenna has 10 years of experience working in education, where she primarily served in administrative roles, supporting educators and students, crafting campus-wide communications, and managing social media accounts. She has also previously worked full time as a musician and music director as well as started her own hand-lettering business.

In her free time, Jenna can usually be found reading, hand-lettering, developing soft serve recipes, or flipping pancakes for her son.

Highlights:

  • Jenna is a creative with formal training in music and the arts, which seeps into her love of cooking, exploring new cuisines, and poring over food memoirs.
  • Jenna works out of the home while she feeds and raises her little one, so she is constantly recipe testing, looking for shortcuts, and researching equipment to make life easier.
  • Prior to writing Serious Eats, Jenna had 10+ years of experience working in education as an administrator and program coordinator.

Education

Jenna graduated from St. Mary’s College of Maryland with a Bachelor’s degree in Music and a concentration in Vocal Performance.
