Experience

Jessie Oleson Moore has three great passions: writing, illustrating, and baked goods. Her particular set of talents merged to create the award-winning CakeSpy.com, a website dedicated to seeking out sweetness in all its various forms, presented as a kind of online “dessert detective agency” run by a cake anthropologist. Jessie’s unique voice and charming illustrations set her apart from other food bloggers early on, garnering the attention of The Today Show, The New York Times, Saveur, Sunset Magazine, Food & Wine, Bon Appetit, O, The Oprah Magazine, and The Boston Globe. The success of CakeSpy led to the publication of Jessie’s first two cookbooks, CakeSpy Presents Sweet Treats for a Sugar-Filled Life (2011) and The Secret Lives of Baked Goods (2013).

In addition to running CakeSpy the blog, which also spawned a collection of CakeSpy-inspired food art and cake illustrations, Jessie has written and illustrated for Serious Eats, Pillsbury, The Wisconsin Butter Board, DailyCandy.com, Saveur, Taste of Home, and Microsoft, as well as her own series of unicorn-themed coloring books. She co-authored Baking with Steel: The Revolution New Approach to Perfect Pizza, Bread, and More (2017) with Andris Lagsdin. Jessie bid farewell to CakeSpy in 2018 and currently works as a freelance food blogger, recipe developer, illustrator, and content creator for Clique Hospitality, Craftsy.com, and Peanut Butter and Company.
