Joe Postma is consulting actuary by trade with a passion for homebrewing and craft beer. He wrote a series of features in the Serious Eats “Homebrewing” column, sharing pro-tips and guiding beginners through the essentials of homebrewing. Joe also developed craft beer recipes for beginner, intermediate, and advanced homebrewers. His recipes showcase a wide array of beer styles, including Imperial IPA, Berliner Weisse, Russian Imperial Stout, Sour Saison, and Pilsner. Joe has served as the president of the Bellingham Homebrewers Guild in his home state of Washington. A serious craft beer lover, Joe even carries around a spectrophotometer to gauge the color of the beer he drinks.
