She was a Fulbright Scholar in Indonesia, she was awarded the UC Berkeley-11th Hour Food and Farming Journalism Fellowship, and her work "Tracing Jollof" (America's Test Kitchen)/ "400 Years After the Slave Trade Began, Tracing the Roots of Jambalaya to Jollof " (Civil Eats) was the 2020 winner of the National Association of Black Journalists' (NABJ) Salute to Excellence Award for Best Use of Multimedia.
