Experience

Baking pies have been a big part of Lenore’s life since she was a child growing up amongst the rich farmlands of California's Central Valley. As a teenager, Lenore would bake pies with Three Babes Bakeshop co-founder Anna Derivi-Castellanos to give away to their friends. The business partners officially launched their pie-making venture in 2011 with the intent of supporting local farms, starting with a pie delivery service and weekly pop-ups at a local cafe. Two years later they joined the San Francisco Ferry Plaza Farmers Market, where their organic seasonal handmade pies and sustainably sourced ingredients garnered national acclaim, named “Best in America” and featured in Saveur, The Huffington Post, Food & Wine, Travel + Leisure, The Today Show, and San Francisco Chronicle, among others. Her recipes and how-to guide for making mini seasonal pies are featured in Serious Eats.

Beyond her exceptional pie-making skills, Lenore is also an active community leader championing food and labor equity, agricultural sustainability, and local small businesses. She served as board president of Bay Leaf Kitchen, an organization that promotes health, wellness, and sustainability through cooking classes and farming education for children ages 3-17. Impassioned to contribute to San Francisco’s Covid-19 Relief, Lenore co-founded and currently serves as executive director of SF New Deal, a program that provides supportive services and financial opportunities to local small businesses.
