A member of the Puerto Rican diaspora who grew up in Harlem, Luz Cruz is a queer, trans farmer, writer, and activist who organizes around the issues of gender, race, and food.

They have contributed their knowledge of farming and foraging to publications like Autostraddle and Serious Eats, and was a founding member of the Cuir Kitchen Brigade, a New York-based collective of queer, trans Latinx friends who responded to Puerto Rico's food insecurities following Hurricane Maria.
