Mimi Young

Mimi credits her frugal Chinese mother for jump-starting her career as a pastry chef. Her stubborn refusal to buy an Easy Bake Oven forced Mimi to learn how to use a real "grown-up" oven at an early age. Mimi has been cooking and baking professionally for over 30 years, much of that time as executive pastry chef at several restaurants, hotels, and corporate catering companies throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, including Scala's Bistro at the historic Sir Francis Drake Hotel and Palio d'Asti. Mimi works as a culinary consultant for private companies, developing recipes, testing products, and creating content for websites and social media. She joined Dotdash Meredith in 2021 as a content update editor and has since curated and written numerous recipe roundups for Serious Eats.

Mimi received a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and a Graduate Certificate, Theatre Arts from the University of California; Associate of Occupational Studies in Culinary Arts from California Culinary Academy.
