Mimi credits her frugal Chinese mother for jump-starting her career as a pastry chef. Her steadfast refusal to buy an Easy Bake oven forced Mimi to learn how to bake in a real "grown-up" oven at an early age. Mimi has been cooking and baking professionally for over 25 years, much of that time as executive pastry chef at several restaurants, hotels, and corporate catering companies throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, including Scala's Bistro at the historic Sir Francis Drake Hotel, Palio d'Asti, and Rebecca Jean Catering. Mimi also runs a small baking business Mi2Sweets, and is a freelance culinary consultant for private companies, developing recipes, testing products, and creating content for websites and social media.
