Why It Works
- Use unfiltered cider for the best flavor.
- Ginger liqueur and lemon juice balance the sweetness of the cider.
- A sprinkle of freshly cracked black pepper adds a warm bite as you sip.
I stroll the farmers market in autumn, and can’t help but come home with bags of apples–and apple cider. Whether you are looking for warm and fruity, or a cider cocktail that riffs on a classic boulevardier, there are variations to please your palate. Buttered rum with a maple twist? Sparkling champagne cocktail?
And if you appreciate sweet apple cider but need more bite than that mellow drink provides, this warm cocktail, spiked with your favorite bourbon, offers the sharpness of ginger. To underscore that subtle burn, we've added cracked black pepper on the top of each mug.
