Experience

Pete Mortensen is a design strategist and researcher by trade, and an inventive homebrewer at heart. He ran a small brewery with his partner Steve Hoyt under the private label Double Robot out of their San Francisco homes.  They produced a line of cleverly named craft beers that included Imperial Stout, Scotch Ale, Black IPA, and Saison.  Many of the tongue-in-cheek monikers were nods to popular films and music, like Rosemary’s Bay Berliner, White Ghost in the Machine, Transformer 5: Smoke on the Water, and Lady Marmalorde. Pete shared his expertise in brewing sour beer at home and recipe for fast-sours in features for Serious Eats.
