Experience

Robyn Eckhardt spent 20 years living in Asia, reporting on food and travel from China, Thailand, Vietnam, and Malaysia.  She was the food columnist at Wall Street Asia and founding food editor at Time Out Kuala Lumpur.  Her articles, essays, and recipes have appeared in National Geographic, The New York Times, Saveur, Leisure + Travel, TASTE, Afar, Food & Wine, Gastronomica, and Serious Eats, among others. Robyn’s fascination with Turkey and love of Turkish cuisine inspired her to write Istanbul and Beyond: Exploring Turkey's Diverse Cuisines (2017), a product of 18 months' research in Turkey.  The book was named “Best Read of 2017” by NPR and included on “Best Cookbooks of the Year” lists in Saveur, Wall Street Journal, Boston Globe, San Francisco Chronicle, Rachel Ray Magazine, Eating Well, and Fine Cooking. Robyn is also the co-creator of the award-winning food blog EatingAsia, which was named Editor's Choice-Culinary Travel in the Saveur Food Blog Awards in 2014 and 2016.  In 2017, Robyn moved her home base from Malaysia to Northern Italy, where she continues to write about food and travel, develop recipes, and organize cooking tours of Piedmont.
